Car suspension joint play detector

The car suspension and steering play tester is designed for fast and accurate detection of excessive play in suspension and steering components. The tool mounts directly onto the mounted wheel, allowing controlled up–down or side-to-side movement to identify looseness and wear.

The clamping arms attach to the outer diameter of the wheel, while the inner gripping elements press against the tyre sidewall to prevent slipping under load. This ensures a secure hold without damaging the wheel rim. The design is fully rim-safe, as no sharp components contact the alloy or steel rim surface.

By manually operating the lever, the wheel is moved in a controlled lateral and longitudinal direction, facilitating the immediate detection of play in the essential components of the suspension and steering.

By providing significant leverage, the tool makes it easier to detect movement in worn components such as:

• Ball joints
• Tie rod ends
• Steering joints
• Wheel bearings
• Top strut mounts

It is recommended to use the tester with the vehicle positioned on the floor.

When mounted horizontally, the tool is ideal for checking steering joints and tie rods. The extended leverage also makes it suitable for loosening stuck wheels, eliminating the need for wooden blocks or hammers.

The tool is compatible with most cars, SUVs and vans, and fits wheel diameters between 550–800mm (approximately 13’’–22’’). It can be used on both front and rear wheels.
